When Mother sleeps on her side, facing her baby, and baby is positioned on his back between his mother and the bolster (Notice the baby is situated in front of the mother's breast, not up towards the pillow) baby can't roll off the bed, be covered by blankets or pillows and can't roll over on his stomach. Mom can easily breastfeed in this position and is readily available to meet her baby's needs. Both mother and baby get the comfort and rest they need by being side by side.
When making your bed always tuck sheets, blankets, and comforters in at the bottom of the bed and make sure that they don't extend far enough up the bed to cover baby's face.
Please read the S.I.D.S prevention information and bedsharing safety rules on our website. We believe responsible bedsharing will protect your baby from S.I.D.S .
